Alfred Cheney Johnston (ACJ) was renowned as the premier photographer of the 1920s and 1930s. As an official photographer of the Ziegfeld Follies, ACJ produced a modern look at the beautiful women of the era. He was in high demand as the photographer to the stars of the Jazz Age. They were dancers, actresses, singers, or stage performers. But they were all glorified by ACJ's unique viewpoint and the images today are highly sought after by collectors and fans.
In May 2024, we discovered and purchased more than 700 glass plate negatives from the collection of Alfred Cheney Johnston. Learn more about the origin of the plates and how the photos we now sell were selected and printed.
